I'm curious if these issues can affect the 92A1 as well? From what I've read the 92A1 is essentially Beretta 96 designed to fire 9mm instead of. Different brands and all, but if you get 20-25k out of it, you can afford a new one. About 25krds down the pipe the frame cracked. While I don't like the m9 because reasons, now dated, and improperly fielded in military service, it's just fine as a service pistol, especially for its time. Some guns must have had slides crack before my time, as they had noticeably less wear than the frames. That probably lead to the majority of problems. I never saw a recoil spring get replaced. IIRC there is a new style of locking block that you might find on legacy trade-in guns, which should be replaced. The frames would crack where the locking block crashes at full recoil. ![]() We also sent some to depot to become scrap metal for cracked frames. I recall replacing a good number of locking blocks on the aging pistols.
